Picture this: two computer geeks (term used affectionately, of course) talking to each other through their microphones and computer speakers. That was the beginning of VoIP and a humble beginning it was. Only users that ran the same software and were online at the same time could reach one another. Now picture everyone from the largest corporations to the smallest business, including home-based businesses using real telephone equipment and software with autodialers, appointment reminders and message centers. That is the VoIP technology of today. Individuals and companies alike can make real phone calls to anyone anywhere in the world and they don”t have to be sitting at a computer to do it!
Technology such as the autodialers and appointment reminders are available from the big phone companies for a big price tag and in the past only the large corporations could afford them. The beauty of the VoIP software solutions available today from companies such as Voicent is that they are incredibly affordable. When paired with inexpensive VoIP phone service from a company like Skype, the value is unbeatable.
Using high-tech phone features like autodialers, appointment reminders, and voice to text, saves a business time and money and has an unparalleled ability to increase the customer’’s perception of the professionalism of your company. They say that image is everything and a first impression goes a long way in creating a positive image of the business that the customer will hold in their mind for a long time, if not forever. The customer’’s first impression should be that they are dealing with a professional company and then they are more likely to be open to learning more about what your business is offering and in taking that business relationship further.
Obviously, VoIP has made tremendous progress from the days of computer geeks using only computer speakers and microphones to make computer to computer only calls and currently stands as a feasible alternative to expensive big phone and cable business phone calling solutions. Just imagine that by automating your business with solutions such as autodialing and autoreminders you can focus more of your time and energy on income producing activity which means making more money which is something everyone can use more of these days. Using an inexpensive VoIP phone service such as Skype can help stretch resources even further which can”t be overestimated in today’’s economy.

Electronics are especially vulnerable to any kind of water damage or liquid spills. If your cellphone or laptop is water damaged, it can either malfunction, suffer from quality deterioration or be rendered useless and broken.
Quick action is needed when it comes to saving laptops and mobile phones from further water damage. Here are some helpful tips on how to prevent these equipment from being damaged further.
If your cellphone is water damaged:
* Remove it from the source of water and shake off excess water. Grab your cellphone quickly because if you leave it lying around in the source of water for more than 20 seconds, the water will seep inside.
* Do not put it inside a microwave or dry it with a hair dryer. People often commit this big no-no when they are faced with this situation. Exposing your cellphone to direct heat will damage it more and might cause it to short circuit.
* Turn off your water damaged cellphone and remove its batteries immediately.
* Dry your phone using a towel or paper towel. Let the phone sit on absorbent towels or paper. Replace the towel or paper every 4 to 6 hours. Remember that all traces of moisture and humidity should be expelled.
* Wait for one day of drying after testing your phone.
* If the water damage is extensive. Place it inside a zip lock bag and bring it to a cellphone repair professional in order to have it assessed. The professional will evaluate the extent of the damage and suggest tips on how to solve the problem.
On the other hand, if your laptop is water damaged:
* If water or any other liquid spilled on your laptop, shut it down quickly, remove its batteries and unplug it from the electricity source. If the water reaches the electrical circuits inside the laptop, it might short circuit.
* Turn your laptop upside down to prevent the water from reaching more internal parts.
* Use paper towels to remove excess water from the laptop.
* Examine your keyboard; tilt it on one side to get rid of any liquid that might be trapped.
* Use a clean, slightly damp piece of cloth to clean the screen.
* If you know how to disassemble your laptop, then do it. You can inspect the internal parts in order to assess the extent of the water damage. Take out the hard drive and remove as many drives as you can. If you do not know how to do this carefully, you can enlist the services of a professional to disassemble the laptop.
* If your laptop is damaged by a liquid other than water, you can use distilled water to rinse it. Using distilled water is more favorable than tap water because it will not leave any particle in the laptop that can cause more damage.
* Let your laptop dry. You can do this in two ways; you can either dry it naturally or dry it using light heat. If you want your laptop to dry naturally, you can prop it up and leave it for 24-48 hours in a dry place so that air can circulate for faster drying. If you want to use light heat in drying your laptop, you can place it in a shelf above your radiator. Do not place it under direct sunlight. You can also use a dehumidifier for faster drying.
Remember that cellphones and laptops are made with delicate materials so exercise caution in dealing with these equipment.

Over the last ten years or so, about 30 million people have abandoned cable television services and made the switch to the over-the-air cable satellite TV service providers. There are obviously some very good reasons why so many people have made this change, much to the chagrin of the executives at the cable service companies who have watched this exodus.
In addition to those who switched from cable to satellite, there are millions more who were never able to have cable access to programming because they lived in rural areas. But, with the addition of a satellite dish antenna and a dish receiver, those in rural areas now can also enjoy the same entertainment programming as people who live in metropolitan areas.
One of the biggest reasons why people are walking away from their cable providers and embracing the cable satellite TV providers comes down to money. No matter what part of the country you live in you will find that it costs less to get your entertainment needs met if you use a satellite dish antenna, versus the old fashioned and out of date cable providers that still need to have their network hard-wired.
In order to have cable TV satellite service in your home, you need to have a complete satellite TV system. The first component is the satellite dish antenna that is positioned outside of the premises. You will often see the mini dish antenna units on rooftops, the sides of buildings, on fences or mounted to a pole, in order to provide the proper positioning. The satellite dish antenna must have a clean and unobstructed view of a certain area of the southern sky and they must be precisely positioned by trained technicians.
The second component to a cable satellite TV system is the receiver with takes the signal from the dish antenna and sends it to the television. The receivers have programming that affects the programming guides, providing detailed information about each show you wish to watch.
One of the most interesting innovations that was recently introduced and has quickly become very popular in the DVR, or digital video recorder, that is integrated into some models of cable TV satellite receivers. These DVR receivers allow you to pause live broadcasts and also to record your favorite programs without the need to fuss with video tapes. Some of these devices are dual receivers, which allow you to watch one show while recording a second, or record two shows at the same time.
Cable satellite TV services continue to be popular not only because they provide better value at a lower cost, but also because of the innovative features that they offer, such as DVR services and dish on demand programming. While traditional cable providers now match many of the features of the TV satellite dish services, it seems that these companies tend to be first to bring new innovations and then the cable companies follow a bit later.

The increasing pace of development in the field of technology has made almost everything compact and compatible for the users. Particularly the electronic devices are improving faster than the requirements of the people.
Every one wants comfort and satisfaction and a good return on their investment in the bargain. The product manufacturers are also competing to give their best so as to make their product acceptable and hence, every time some new product hit the market with some improved technology.
LCD TVs are the revolution in the direction of television technology. The sophisticated technology involved in LCD TV help liquid crystal displays. The advantage of the LCD TV lies in its low power consumption and making it into almost any shape. This is the first choice for people who prefer watching movies in large screens.
The LCD TV with its light weight can be placed anywhere with a stand. The crystal clear images of the device are excellent to give you new dimension to your viewing experience. The impressive features of high resolution make gaming more interesting. The flat panel televisions with bright and attractive pictures and remarkable sound quality are compatible with the HDTV programming.
These days, the price of the LCD TV has dropped. They are gaining popularity for their larger size, better picture, soothing sound, style and light weight. Today, there are larger numbers of brands available to choose from such as Sony, Samsung, Sharp and Panasonic. However, exceptional image resolution is common to LCD TV of all brands. But while purchasing the LCD TV, there are certain factors that need to be considered carefully to get the best out of your expense.
First of all you need to check the size of the room where you are going to place your new LCD TV. Watching television is a great fun and perfect way to relax in this age. But the rules of watching television include maintaining certain distance from the monitor depending upon its size. Here the size of the monitor matters a lot.
If you are purchasing LCD TV with a larger monitor you need to keep greater distance and for that you need a room with larger space. So your selection of the size of the monitor should be according to the size of the room.
Each frame of images should be refreshed onto the screen. If the refresh time is slow the LCD TV will display poor image quality though it depends on what you are watching. Sometimes it may happen that you can find good pictures during watching movies but not while playing video games. If you are getting fastest response time with a decent price you can go for it.
There are many models of LCD TV in the market that allow connection to computer but lack a DVI connection. If you are connecting your LCD TV to the computer you need to check if the DVI connection is available with it.
Sony KDL-40XBR2 are the most popular LCD TV among all brands. Apart from that Sharp LC-32D44 and Samsung LN-S3251D are also better performing LCD TVs. Do not go for the cheap brands. The better brand names will provide you with high quality hardware. The best way is to browse through the websites where you will find several models with varied features at your display. Check best quality LCD TVs and compare their prices before taking any decision.
An LCD TV is not something that you replace frequently. You must be thinking of a long-term use while purchasing this for your home. Hence, you need to choose the right one. Television is the most popular gadget of fun and enjoyment. The new-age gadgets like LCD TVs are developed with advanced technology for high-end performance. Playing videogames and watching TV are more interesting than it was ever.

Measuring television in meters sounds like a dream come true for most. It almost sounds like you have purchased a cinema! The truth is that this can be done in your own home, and it could cost you the same amount as buying a standard HD LCD TV!
So, how is it possible to have a television that covers something like our entire wall? The answer is with the new generation of projectors HD TV. These projectors allow you to easily make your home into a home theater.
The price of HD projectors compared with a standard LCD HD TV is similar. There are differences however, and some can work out positive or negative. It is best to consider them before committing to buy a projector with HD.
For example, the HD LCD TV will work for years. But, with the projectors, they work with lamps. So, you will find that living with a projector can be more demanding than a TV. Though this is not such a big issue, it can be.
The lamps, like standard light bulbs around the home, have a lifespan. And when time is up, you will need replacement projector lamps. In a lot of cases, the lamps in HDTV projectors don”t just go out. Instead they end up getting more dimmer over time.
There are major benefits to owning your own home theater projector. For example even though a LCD HD TV may cost a couple of thousand dollars, and you could easily pay the same on a home theater projector with high definition, the truth is that they are very different.
The LCD HD TV maybe compact, and lightweight, but it doesn”t compare with a projector HDTV. A HD projector is very portable, and can easily be moved about.
The projector HDTV can also put an image on the wall. This makes a big difference of how big a screen you have! However, even though there is this option, to get the most out of your home theater system, you will need to have a projector screen for best results.
The good point with today’’s HDTV projectors, is that they have many different inputs; which is great, as it allows you to connect it to your DVD player, your computer, PlayStation or other gaming console.
When looking to buy a projector with high definition, make sure it comes with the inputs you need for your other electronic equipment. This will make it a hassle free process of converting your home into a cinema!
The different models and brands all have different features, and picking one which meets every persons needs, is not always an easy thing to do. With research, you should be able to find a cost effective way of converting your home into a personal cinema!

Wireless hearing assistance is opening up a lot of new doors for people who require help to clearly hear. The new evolution of wireless FM listening systems is an exciting leap in the journey to help the hard of hearing. FM wireless hearing assistance consists of hearing aids integrated with wireless receivers and FM listening systems. A wireless microphone can be given to someone who will be accompanying the person and speaking to him, and the voice of the person is transmitted wirelessly to their hearing aids in the best, clearest way possible.
This method of hearing assistance eliminates the problems of background noise and the natural occurrence of the voice becoming distorted with distance. The voice is captured just a few inches from the speakers mouth, which is the best place to capture good voice quality. Of all current hearing assistance technologies, FM hearing assistance have shown that they give the best understanding of speech in noisy situations. FM systems can also be hooked up to a stereo or TV.
FM hearing assistance is being used more and more in the treatment of hearing loss in children, as well as in adults. Many auditoriums, theaters, churches, and lecture halls have become equipped with hearing assistance systems that transmit the sound that is coming directly from the stage. People in the audience can rent or borrow a receiver and hear what is going on without the horrendous background noise getting in the way.
So, what exactly does FM hearing assistance mean? FM stands for frequency modulation and is the most common form of radio transmission. FM hearing assistance provides improved clarity in sounds for people when trying to hear speech. Some of the specific ways that an FM hearing assistance system can help are that the systems reduce background noise for the listener, which often can be distracting and increase the difficulty of hearing what is being spoken. FM hearing assistance also reduces reverberation and distortion, because the voice is picked up very close to the speakers mouth, not allowing enough distance for distortion to occur.
Using an FM hearing assistance system will reduce listening fatigue and ease the need for extreme concentration for the listener. FM provides improved listening clarity for people with hearing loss who experience difficulty and fatigue, when trying to understand speech, because of distance, reverberation, and distracting background noise. The system means improved hearing at a distance from the speaker, because even if the listener is far away, the speakers voice is right in his ear. Also, using the FM system will improve voice understanding and clarity for the listener.

Ronald Herberman, director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, shocked just about all law-abiding scientists (abiding by laws of physics, that is) with his warning last week to his faculty and staff that cell phones might pose a cancer risk.
This is troublesome because this time a really smart person is saying it, not just another nutcase.
The basics still ring true, and Herberman admitted as much: There’’s no convincing evidence that cell phone radiation causes cancer. Nor is there plausible biological or physical reasoning for why it would cause cancer.
Herberman said his warning is based on early, unpublished data from a 13-country study on cell phone use. Scientists tend to be wary of preliminary results, and many are scratching their heads over why Herberman would make such a stern and public warning now.
Herberman countered that until there’’s definitive proof that cell phones are harmless, users should practice some caution.
Play it safe Herberman’’s recommendations to minimize exposure are a godsend, but not for the reasons he intended. Limit conversations to a few minutes? Yes, particularly when it’’s about some stupid shoe sale you need to tell everyone about. Avoid cell phone use in buses and trains to limit second-hand exposure? Yes, particularly when I”m trying to sleep.
Limit use in cars, because high speeds force the phone to maximize power to find relay stations? Yes, yes: Let’’s shorten the bumper sticker reading “Shut up and drive” to just “shut up.” This will definitely save lives as fewer chatty drivers means fewer deadly traffic accidents.
If only Crazy Frong ringtone caused cancer.
Yet how cautious must we be? Devra Lee Davis, Herberman’’s colleague, told the Associated Press, “The question is do you want to play Russian roulette with your brain.”
Sounds frightening, but Russian roulette is played with one bullet in a six-shooter. Cell phone Russian roulette has perhaps one bullet in a gun that can hold several million.
Einstein and cell phones far from a scientific-illiterate technophobe, Herberman is author or co-author of over 700 peer-reviewed cancer articles dating back to the 1960s. He’’s smarter than me and likely you.
Yet Einstein, in a way, disproved the notion that cell phone radiation causes cancer. It’’s called the photoelectric effect: Light is composed of photons which, when above a threshold energy, can dislodge electrons from atoms for example, break chemical bonds in DNA and cause cancerous mutations.
That threshold energy is near the ultraviolet part of the electromagnetic spectrum, thousands of times more energetic than cell phone radio waves. UV, X-rays and gamma rays cause cancer. These photons are like golf balls, whereas radio photons are like cotton balls. You can throw millions of cotton balls against a window; it just won”t break.
Heated arguments and hoaxes despite myriad studies showing no increased cancer risk from up to 20 years of cell phone use, some scientists continue to probe as they should, given the omnipresence of cell phones.
One alternate theory is that heat generated by cell phones can cook brain cells. This notion inspired a well-known hoax a decade ago, a demonstration of how two cell phones could cook an egg in 65 minutes. The lark seemed plausible and was illustrated in a series of stills on the Internet.
Then Cardo Systems, a provider of Bluetooth headsets, made videos of cells phones teaming up in groups of threes or fours to pop popcorn. Kernels are digitally removed from the video as popped popcorn is dropped onto the table. This publicity stunt proved successful enough to convince many of the power of cell phone radiation.
One problem with the heat theory is that the sun can heat your head far more efficiently than a cell phone. And your body does a rather decent job at regulating heat, anyway.
Cancer calling each type of living tissue absorbs radiation at a different frequency. So it is plausible that cell phone radiation bypasses the skin and skull and is absorbed selectively by brain tissue.
But scientists see only marginal evidence for changes at the cellular level induced by cell phone radiation in Petri dishes, fruit flies and mice. Similarly in human studies, such as the 13-country study Herberman was privy to, called INTERPHONE, there is at best only an inkling of evidence that cell phones might cause cancer if you use them long enough, for 30 or more years.
If there’’s a cancer association, it might be from the stress of being plugged in to a cell phone 24/7. We need to relax.
No one seems to mention how many lives are saved by cell phones. Police and emergency crews are informed of trouble nearly instantly now. Banning the technology would be shortsighted.
But seeing how millions of people still smoke and have unprotected sex, despite warnings, Herberman’’s message likely won”t make a dent in changing behavior.

We all know that mega pixels are very important when it comes to choosing a digital camera and in fact mega pixels should be the number one factor when considering the next digital camera you purchase. But what is a mega pixel and what quality can you expect from the various ranges of mega pixels?
Pixels are in fact simply tiny dots of light that make up a digital image. One million pixels is one mega pixel and mega pixels are of course the feature which determines the quality of digital camera pictures.
Next we will discuss the various range of mega pixels and what type of quality the various mega pixels will produce, with this information you will be better equipped to make a decision regarding how many mega pixels you will need in your next digital camera.
1 mega pixel
Almost non existent, however you still may find this range cell phones, PDAs, and very old desktop “web” cameras. They are really only suitable if you intend to email pictures to other people and those people aren”t going to be printing them. If you print pictures from a 1 mega pixel camera you will realise the quality is inferior.
1.1 to 2 mega pixels
Only a tiny bit better than the 1.0, this resolution is OK for an average 4×6 snapshot, but once more as per the 1.0 the quality will not be very good at all.
2.1 to 3 mega pixels
This is the start of the fairly decent picture quality range. You can get good 4×6 images and reasonably good 5×7 images. These cameras are very very low cost and
provide a good platform for beginners, or perhaps for your children etc.
3.1 to 5 mega pixels
You are qualified to say that you have a pretty good camera. You get great quality 4×6 images, and fairly good quality 5×7 and 6×9 shots, and just below average 8×10 images.
5.1 to 8 mega pixels
People will be saying “Hey, great pictures!”. You can count on amazing quality pictures all the way up to 8×10′’s.
8.1 mega pixels and up
Getting a digital camera with 8.1 mega pixels or more will result in professional quality pictures whichever size you decided to print. You and your family and friends will be amazed by the pictures.
If you are only going to be viewing your pictures online, such as posting them at a photo site or using them on your web pages, keep your money in your pocket and opt to get a camera with up to 5 mega pixels.
If you will be shooting pictures that will be printed for various purposes, such as for brochures, postcards, etc, then you will need at least a 5 mega pixel camera if not higher. Of course keep in mind that the higher the mega pixel count, the higher the price too.
Once you”ve solved the mega pixel question, there are various other camera features to consider such as optical/digital zoom and shutter speed etc, however choosing between these should be a simple task after you have debated over the various mega pixels on offer.
Whatever you decide, ensure you have shopped around and done your fair share of comparisons to ensure you have the best deal for yourself.

Sorting out the wiring in your own home can be an expensive procedure, especially if the end result of it is the electrician twiddling with a few wires and pulling a switch or two. Often this can be confusing even when you really have no idea what to do when the electric circuit suddenly fails on you. One big advice is to not be put off by the prospect of paying out too much money on a professional electrician and opt to do it yourself as this will put you in unnecessary risk of electrocution.
However, when it comes to domestic wiring, there is no harm in learning a few basic tricks in solving minor issues. The first place to start off with is to know your circuits, as this is what provides the power to certain parts of your home. As mentioned before, one should never attempt to resolve any major issues themselves, for the sheer fact that they risk causing a fire or electrocution. However simple measures such as light fixtures and wiring up a plug.
Learning the basics of a circuit board will help you determine the problem when something goes wrong. Although you will never have to deal with the circuit board yourself, you will need to know how they roughly work so when you do call for an electrician then you will be able to know what they are talking about. When dealing with light fixtures you will need to know how these are wired up to the light circuits.
These can be wired at the end or in the middle of the circuit. The way the light fixture is placed with the circuit, affects how it has been wired. So some wall fixtures may not be wired in the same way as ceiling light fixtures. With domestic wiring you will find that this common for most electrical appliances, such as light fixtures and power supply circuits (used for powering the standard three pin plug points).
Domestic wiring circuits tend to have their circuits earthed, as they run from the main power supply to power your house in places. Power outlet circuits are easy to wire up as they have to main configurations such as radial and ring circuits. The ring circuit works back towards the original power supply using two complete paths whereas the radial circuit works through one chain from the supply point to the furthest outlet.
Getting to know how these circuits work and are wired will help with trying to resolve small issues and problems within the household. This is the best place to start with, before going onto learning how to wire up circuits. As long as you know the basics of the wiring system and what the functions of each individual wire is then you will find simple problems much easier to handle.

Are you in the market for a new washing machine? Wondering which washing machine you should buy? If you are, consider making the purchase of a front loading washing machine. Through this article you are provided helpful (and, indeed, necessary) tips on how to buy front loading washing machines.
Space
The first consideration that you will want to keep in mind when it comes to the prospect of purchasing a front loading washing machine is space consideration. The reason many people do elect to purchase a front loading washing machine rests in the reality that some models of these types of machines actually are more streamlined and better able to fit into a smaller space. For example, if you live in an apartment, you might find that this type of washing machine is ideal simply because in many instances such a model will take up less floor space.
Washing Loads
The next tip and pointer that you will need to keep in mind when it comes to purchasing a front loading washing machine is making sure that you will find such a machine appropriate for your circumstances. In most instances, a front loading washing machine will hold only smaller loads per wash. If you have a large family or have a need for larger wash loads, you may find that the front loading variety of washing machine might not be the best option for you.
Energy Efficency
Yet another consideration to keep in mind when it comes to front loading machines is that in most instances these appliances are far more energy efficient than their upright brethren. Therefore, if you want to save money on energy costs and if you want to lessen the impact your appliance use will have on the environment, the front loading variety of washing machine really may be the best option for you. In this day and age, energy and environmental considerations are very important to many people.
Finally, when it comes to purchasing a front loading washing machine, you need to keep in mind that there are variety of these types of appliances in a wide spectrum of prices. Therefore, if you have specific budgetary considerations when it comes to purchasing a washing machine, you will want to make sure that you take the time to shop around. By doing so you will be able to find a front loading washing machine that will best fit within your budget.
