There are many benefits to connecting your phone to your PC. Thanks to the two technologies being merged now, you can enjoy more ease by using your mobile with your PC.

In this article, you will find:
* Benefits of Connecting Your Mobile Phone To Your PC
* Ways of Connecting Your Mobile Phone To Your PC
* What You Need To Be Able To Connect Your Mobile Phone To Your PC

* Benefits of Connecting Your Phone To Your PC
By connecting your PC and mobile phone together, you gain access to simplifying life. Your mobile may be too small to allow you to write a long text with ease, but connecting your PC and your cell phone, allow you to write your text with your PC’’s keyboard! This is not the only benefit, in fact more and more benefits are being found now.

You can transfer play lists between phone and PC. You can backup your pictures and video. You can use your phone as a gateway for internet access, if you find there is no connectivity on the home phone line. You can even control your PC with your phone, and use your mobile phone as a top end web cam! All these obviously depend on what your phone and the software capabilities are.

* Ways of Connecting Your Mobile Phone To Your PC
You have several options of how you can connect your PC to your cell phone. Again all of the connection options depend on your phones capabilities.

Most phones allow you to connect via infrared to your PC. However, connecting with infrared to your computer does have drawbacks. You may need to buy extra equipment to be able to connect your mobile phone to your PC with infrared. Also the transfer speeds a very slow compared with many connecting technologies available on phones today. Infrared connectivity also does have its limitations. For example, you can not use your mobile as a web cam, as the speeds of infrared are too slow.

Bluetooth is a faster technology than infrared. There are many advantages to Bluetooth that make it a good way to connect your cell phone to your computer. The first is that of the speed, next is the ease with which you can connect to your PC and start transferring files. The downside is that not all computers come equipped with Bluetooth connectivity. So, you may need to buy a device for your computer that enables Bluetooth on your PC. They are easy to find and the cost is very low, in most cases.

The de-facto choice of the person who wants connectivity with ease and offer many other benefits is via USB connectivity. All new computers come with USB, and most new phones offer USB connectivity, which is a match made in heaven! You can simply get a phone, which in most cases comes with the software to start using your PC with your mobile phone. You also get a USB cable with your phone, so from the get go, you can start connecting! Some phones may not have this option however. I have found many of the Sony Ericsson range of phones and other brands do give you all you need to start connecting your mobile phone to your PC.

* What You Need To Be Able To Connect Your Mobile Phone To Your PC
In the case of a USB enabled mobile phone, and a fairly new computer with USB available, connecting your PC and phone should be an easy task. The first thing you need is the phone, the USB cable, the software and a PC with USB enabled functionality.

After you install the software, connect the cables and set the phone up, you are ready to start using the benefits of mobile and PC connectivity! Now when your phone needs charging and you can not find the charger, you can charge your phone up, thanks to your PC and USB!

Productivity Drives Unified Communication Strategy

March 24, 2008

By Wolfgang Jaegel

We are living in a world which is advancing at a furious pace. In today’’s world integrated communication between workers, customers and business partners assumes great significance. The ability to interact and communicate with those involved in the business is increasingly becoming a serious issue in achieving the upper hand among business organizations.

To integrate relationships among businessmen and customers alike an organization should posses excellent IT and messaging strategy. This relation or interaction can be considered as the primary reason behind the development of UCC.

Today there are a lot of integration and collaboration technologies in prominence in a particular organization. UCC defines an efficient way to blend these varied integration and collaboration technologies into a single effective strategy. It improves interaction between key persons in an organization and provides a smoother, efficient and less taxing environment. Its effective usage results in an alleviated operational efficiency and leads to in-depth business communication.

There are a lot of challenges faced by business organizations these days. The number of satellite channels in use is increasing in number and they are also becoming more and more sophisticated with improvements in technology. This puts added pressure on the organizations and customers to use these channels in a manner which will deliver maximum amount of efficiency. The fast world we are in today make the users to demand instant access and quick results from every activity they perform. This increases the workload of the employees and even could have adverse effects on our personnel life.

The impetus on quick reaction time to the latest SMS or phone call could have an unfavorable impact on the expected productivity. This also forces the employees to end up causing some kind of discomfort to the users. One of the major problems is the lack of priority in messaging systems. This has led to unnecessary usage of mobile phones and it has increased the cost of phone calls. With such huge amount of satellite channels available, organizations are left with no choice but to face the colossal challenge of tracking, storing, retrieving and distributing the information acquired from the various channels.

What Unified Communication and Collaboration does is that it helps the organizations to make efficient use of the various multi-functional technologies available to us. It avoids the complexity to a very great extent. Its aim is to provide a single multimedia application which can support the multi-dimensional systems. The notable features include the adeptness in managing voice and data across a single integrated network.

The integration of wide-area, local-area and remote access networks is also provided. The issue of security is given paramount importance. No matter what kind of device or channel is used the ability to deliver reliable security remains undiminished. Presence technology is also used which the enables the presence of the user to be updated in an automated fashion so that contact can be made easily.

UCC improves production efficiency along with employee productivity. It also increases customer satisfaction and enables the organization and the customer to save money. It also provides an incredible foundation to adapt to progress in the messaging technology. It also enables to collect a bird’’s eye view of the customer interaction thus improving the customer service facilities. Excellent scalability can be achieved for the future technologies.

Microsoft recently launched a unified product which includes product roadmap and partner ecosystem. New 2007 Office system products can furnish solutions which unites voice, conferencing, IM and collaboration. Through the new approach Microsoft puts people in the middle of communications by giving single identity over all modes. It also collaborate into the routine work processes people go through. This has presented the one vital missing link in unifying business messaging across the world. Interactions around the world stand to benefit from the advent of UCC.

Using Technology to Help Your Workout

March 24, 2008

By Michael Greeves

Technology has been pushing its way into the fitness market for the past couple years. There are several gadgets that make working out more fun, and several that allow you to track progress during your workout. These gadgets range from the iPod to heart rate monitors. Video games are also being developed to make workouts more fun, both for children and adults. Following are several gadgets that you can either find on the market now, or are being developed for use in the next couple of years.

Progio Training Companion

The Progio Training Companion is a small hand-held machine that gives complete instructions for personal workout programs. These workouts have detailed instructions to provide a safe and satisfying workout. You can choose fitness, rehabilitation and sport-specific workouts that are designed by fitness experts to meet specific needs and workout goals. The Progio tracks your results, monitors your heart rate and helps to keep you motivated throughout each workout.

Workout programs from fitness sites like HyperStrike can also be downloaded to the Progio Training Companion as well as to your iTouch, iPhone, Windows Mobile device and PDA. Working out has never been so convenient!

Nike + iPod Sport Kit

Apple and Nike teamed up a couple of years ago to bring a unique sport kit to the market. This sport kit has a sensor in the Nike shoe that records information and transfers it to an iPod nano. The sensor tracks distance, time, pace, and calories burned. It syncs to the iPod, and you can track your progress through your workout as well and track it on your computer; when the iPod syncs with your computer, the information is transferred so you can track your progress over time. You can even program your iPod to give you audible progress updates in your earphones. If you want to know when you”ve run two miles, you can program your iPod to give you an audible update when that happens. This sport kit is perfect for anyone who wants to track their workout statistics and monitor them.

Wii Fit

The Nintendo Wii swept the market when it arrived a few years ago. Due to its interactive and completely physical style, many people have been using it for a workout. Nintendo is currently developing Wii Fit, which is an exercise program that you can complete in the privacy of your home and have fun doing it! Wii Fit will include a balance board that you stand on to perform workouts; games such as aerobics, yoga, muscle stretches, and various sports will be available. This program is perfect for those who already own the Wii; since the Wii game console is in such high demand, this can be a hard item to track down.

Dance Dance Revolution

This is another video game that has taken the market by storm as far as getting a great workout. This game has a dance pad that you step on, guided by the television screen. Many people use this as exercise, and the newer games have ways to track your calories burned as well as track your progress over time. Just recently, this game has been introduced in several schools for use by children in gym class. This game is a great way to have some fun while working out!

Various Watches

There are many watches on the market which contain gadgets such as a heart rate monitor, pedometer, and body fat calculator. These gadgets are also available individually, but many watch makers like Timex have integrated all three of these into one easy-to-use device. Most of these watches will also track distance and time, making one gadget handy and extremely useful when you are working out.

You can definitely expect the above gadgets to continue to be improved upon as technology continues to develop and grow. There seems to be more of a push for gadgets that can track most statistics throughout your workout so you can make the most of your time and know the details of your workout. With those details, it is much easier achieve your end result, whether it is that 26 mile marathon or just losing a few pounds.

Buying A Home Theater System

March 23, 2008

By Laurie Lindsay

No one had a clue during the early days of television the incredible impact that this device would have over people and their daily lives nearly a century later. I can hardly believe the difference between the television offerings of my childhood and the vast number of quality shows, channels, and information that is available by simply turning on the television. In addition to that, the quality of sound that can be achieved through the simple act of adding a receiver and surround sound speakers to your television is day and night when comparing before and after.

I do not think for one second anyone could have possibly anticipated the global impact that televisions have introduced. Add to that the entertainment value and the fact that we are now using our televisions for much more than simply watching and you have opened up a whole new world of entertainment. Surround sound not only works wonders with movies and (some) television shows but is also an excellent enhancement for video games and even music.

Televisions are also being used for more purposes now than ever before. With each generation of video game system there are new features added that require more from the televisions and speaker systems we spend so much of our time enjoying. From the days when people first gained the ability to check their email on their television sets, the technology seed has been planted for greater things to come. Each year new televisions and new surround sound and home theater systems hit the market with amazing success among consumers. We all want more sound, better pictures, and more functionality from a piece of technology that is not yet a century old. It’’s amazing the progress that has been made already and the rapid rate at which this technology continues to evolve.

Surround sound is only one example of the great possibilities that exist in the entertainment industry, it simply happens that this is one piece of the technology puzzle that enhances so many other of the things that we enjoy so much on a daily basis. From gaming to music to movies, all are enhanced by the technology and premium sound that a good surround sound system with high quality speakers can provide. When purchasing speakers for your surround sound system, be sure to make sure that they are THX certified in order to assure that you are getting top quality speakers for your surround sound system or home theater.

You will find as you sort through the various surround sound systems in the market today that there are many options available to you. I hope that you will take the time to find the one that you like best and keep an open mind when you bring it into your home. It is important to remember that you may find the system doesn”t sound as good in your home as it did in the store (acoustics are going to be different). If this is the case with your system, make a note of the differences that you find troublesome, and return the kit to the store, then ask for recommendations on systems that might work better in your home. You should also include things like the size of the room, the types of walls and flooring you have (all of these things affect the acoustical quality of your room). Most importantly, make the most of the advances that technology has allowed and enjoy.

Big Brother By Proxy - Was Orwell Just 25 Years Early?

March 22, 2008

By Neil Ebsworth

In 1984, the Orwellian version of the future depicts a world under the governmental control of ”Big Brother”. Privacy doesn”t exist and cameras everywhere, record every aspect of life. Some would say that, Mr Orwell wasn”t far off the mark. In the UK these days CC TV cameras seem to adorn every street corner and in the US the implementation of some aspects of the Patriot Act, have constitutional attorneys in a frenzy as IV Amendment right seem to be continuously eroded.

In simple language, well lets quote it to be sure, the IV Amendment to the constitution of the USA states,

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

Its limitation of government to invade the privacy of the individual was its main purpose, but it seems in todays uncertain world and at the first sign of trouble, 9/11 in this case, it is this very privacy that the government seems willing to erode. The fact that it is the fourth amendment should give us some idea as to the weight that the fore-fathers attached to it and to let its erosion under the guise of threat from terrorists and paedophiles, pass without a fight, would do all, who find comfort in their constitutional rights, a major injustice.

Orwell, who died in 1950, could not have conceived of the computer age that was to come. He did however, come quite close to realizing the scenario now envisaged with the advent of Real Ids and biometric data storage, in which we are all able to be monitored, in all that we do.

As with the Patriot Act, fear has been the tactic to allow these rights to be eroded. In the recent film ”Untraceable” featuring Diane Lane, we are given a nightmare scenario, where a serial killer, tortures his victims online and cannot be caught because his location cannot be traced by the authorities. The paranoid among us would see this as just another subliminal message that it is alright to have your computer data available to the government agencies..so they can see what you are doing.

Some states are already considering a ban on the use of proxies, or proxy servers which allow you to effectively hide your identity and location from prying eyes. The Department of Justice has already had talks with the large I.S.P. provider, including Google, to discuss ways of making stored information available for scrutiny. You must remember that the IV amendment only protects you from government search. This means that if Google were to hold your browsing history in storage, it would only take a warrant between the D.O.J. and Google for them to be able to look into your life without you even being able to challenge it.

The use of anonymous proxy can have some drawbacks and the most important thing is to be sure in who you entrust to act for you. As you are effectively routing your server requests through a third party operator, beware of unscrupulous proxy providers who could use your information for illegal purposes.

With this out of the way, it is then possible to maintain your right to privacy. Something you would think that should be free as intended under the constitution. But remember, the constitution was formed by struggle and individual sacrifice and as Thomas Jefferson said, “The tree of Liberty must be refreshed from time to time…”

Maybe that time is upon us again!

Issues With Thermal Transfer Printheads?

March 22, 2008

By John Barth

Are you dissatisfied with the print quality of your thermal transfer or direct thermal printer? Do they have unwanted lines and/or blank spots in the print? If so, your thermal transfer printhead might need cleaned or even replaced. The printhead is the most critical component of your thermal printer and one of the most delicate. Before deciding whether or not you need a new thermal transfer printhead, you should first clean it properly. You can clean a printhead by rubbing it with an alcohol pad or better yet, buy ribbon equipped with
“Cleanstart”.

What is “Cleanstart” ribbon? “Cleanstart” is a barcode ribbon that has a special printhead cleaning feature at the start of every roll from IIMAK. IIMAK is one of the largest US based manufacturers of barcode ribbon. After installing your new roll of ribbon into your printer, simply close the printhead at the start of the white “Cleanstart” cleaning strip and pull it through the closed printhead. Reopen the printhead and feed the ribbon through for the final setup and installation. Close the printhead and begin printing.

If the quality of print is not improved then more troubleshooting is needed. Many of these printers are very temperamental and the slightest adjustment can make all the difference. Check the heat setting on the printer to make sure it is hot enough. This can usually take care of some of the lines or fading in the image that is printed.

The next step in troubleshooting the printer would be to check the platen roller. That is the rubber roller that is right under the print head. Many users will damage the platen roller by taking a knife to it to get excess label adhesive or paper stuck to the roller off. This is a MAJOR no-no! NEVER take a knife or blade to the platen roller. This roller is critical in keeping the quality of print consistent. Look for a nick in the roller and if there is one, have a service representative replace the platen roller.

So there is no nick in the platen roller? The next step is to inspect the printhead with a light and look right on the black sensor that meets the labels when closed. You will have to open the print head to see. Check the printhead for white spots. White spots on a printhead indicate damage and wear from the course of its print life. If there are white spots on the printhead, this is a good indication that it is time for a new printhead. The printhead life can vary in length based on how well it is maintained. Wiping your printhead with an alcohol pad before every use will ensure its cleanliness and protect it from residue buildup. The same positive results will occur with the proper use of a “cleanstart” ribbon. Proper maintenance will result in the maximum life span of the printhead.

Now, if your troubleshooting indicates that you need a new printhead, then there are a few decisions to make. Do you want to buy the exact OEM printhead? Or do you want to buy a quality compatible printhead? Many times it is the same manufacturer that makes both. There are very high quality off brand printheads on the market that can save you a lot of money. OEM printheads are usually required for some warranties, but if you can, we suggest going with a private brand, high quality printhead as a replacement because they are much less expensive and work just as well.

Protecting Your Digital Device

March 21, 2008

By Jim Corkern

There are a multitude of digital and other high tech items that we have to have today and are certain that we could not make do without. Our laptops, blackberries, cell phones, and digital cameras are cherished tools that we normally do not like to leave home without. Truthfully, the beauty of all these items is that we can take them with us wherever we go. With all the traveling around that they do, the chances of them being stolen, lost, or damaged is a true threat.

The majority of guarantees on these items will not cover any of these occurrences. We might be pretty much on our own with the recovery or repair. Many of these things might be saved if they are damaged by water. With a digital video camera or digital photo camera however, being soaked by water might spell their certain death. There could be a small chance they may be restored, but not normally.

Even the repair services that will attempt to fix digital cameras that have been wet by water will normally charge you a non refundable fee up front and will not likely guarantee fixing it. With odds like that, you can be spending more money on it and still not have the digital camera restored the way it was.

The very best thing to do is prevent it form getting wet in the first place. Preventions are not that hard if you just make use of them from the beginning. First of all, do not permit little children or pets close to them. Anything pets and children come in contact with might end up getting wet for one reason or another. Slobber is usually not fatal, except perhaps to digital cameras. Provided you are brave enough to carry your camera around places with water, remember to keep it in a waterproof case.

A sealed plastic bag might help, but not work well be enough. Tuck it in a sealed plastic bag or into a plastic box. Extra precaution is defiantly not over the top, especially if you invested a good deal of money for it. Even when you are not around water, your camera will likely be useless if the viewing panel is busted, although this might be restored. An airtight plastic box could help keep it from being smashed as easily as well as protect it from water.

Water damage aside, digital devices are very delicate and the more caution we take with them the longer they will last us. We do not miss our new high tech devices so very much as when they have been destroyed.

LCD TV: The New Face Of Indoor Entertainment

March 21, 2008

By Roberto Sedycias

New innovations have radically changed the way people around the world perceive the concept of entertainment. Be it cinema or music system, mp3 players or television, people are constantly adopting new ways of entertainment, jettisoning the old ones. Technology changes always. You can`t stop the advancement in technology. There is some advancement in terms of technology in everyday things like cell phones, calculators, computer monitors, and televisions, too.

The latest version of television is Liquid Crystal Display Television or LCD TV. Old model tube (CRT) TVs are large and bulky. They need a lot of space for placing it. During the early 2000`s LCD flat panels started ruling over the television market from the typical CRTs.

LCD TV is a flat screen television which needs less space for placing. They are slim, lighter, and hardly goes beyond 3.5 inch in thickness. They have a very trendy look which draws attention of others. The technology has penetrated our everyday lives. But how does it work? Basically, a very large amount of tiny liquid crystals are held between two electrodes. When a charge is passed between the tiny liquid crystals they react to the change. This reaction emits light which creates an image that we can viewed on the screen of the television.

Usually LCD TVs are cheaper as compared to Plasma models. However, when it comes to large screen size, plasma TV is sold for better prices. If you compare with the CRT tube TVs, then the price is a little higher, no matter the screen size.

The screen lifespan of Plasma and LCD TVs should not be an important way to differentiate them. Plasma TV have a reported half-life of 30,000 to 60,000 hours. While the average tube (CRT) TV set has a half-life of around 25,000 hours. LCD TV can be installed on your own where as you have to depend on an expert to install a plasma TV. The best part of LCD TV is that it draws only about 60% of the power consumed by plasma displays. You are also protected from harmful electromagnetic waves while using it.

LCD TVs have certain minor drawbacks too, with restricted viewing angle and limited contrast ratio. They have graying effects on the screen which deteriorates the clarity of the image, mainly the color factor. The viewing angle of an LCD TV is up to 160 degrees, where as the viewing angle of plasma TV is up to 170 degrees.

The right LCD TV screen placement is a very important point to consider. Sitting the right distance from your TV set optimizes your viewing experience. Also for the viewing height, your eyes should level with the middle of the screen, since the LCD image picture will look its brightest as this level.

LCD TVs may often look better in `real-world` situations, as they reflect very little light, enabling them to keep levels in well-lit rooms. This way, LCD TVs will usually meet the brightness expectations of most customers.

Technology has brought many interesting products in recent years. One of them was the LCD TV. For those who love indoor entertainment, like watching TV, look no further. LCD TV will provide one of the best viewing experiences.

The Enhanced Power of Prayer Through Technology

March 20, 2008

By David Jordan

There is no doubt that prayer is powerful. It is the first way that we as Christians communicate with our creator. When many of us band together and pray to God, we can make real changes in this world that we live in. With technology, prayer is mighty and spreads much further than we ever dreamed possible.

Why Praying Is Hard For Some People

Prayer means making yourself totally vulnerable in order to submit yourself to God. Most people like to feel in control of their situations, and it is human nature to want to feel a sense of empowerment through our own actions. Prayer takes away that barrier.

Prayer is bringing everything before a divine God that is in control of everything. However, once you experience the power of prayer, you realize how good it feels and you come to know that prayer makes a huge difference in the lives of many people.

Technology Teaches Us to Pray

Many people, especially new Christians, feel uncomfortable about praying. It is hard to pray when you cannot see God and talk to Him face-to-face, in the flesh. Most Christians understand the concept of faith and believing in what you cannot see, but to begin talking to the air seems unnatural.

It is hit or miss whether a church takes on the assignment of teaching people to pray effectively, and that is where technology plays an important role. Various technologies teach people exactly how to pray, based on the Lord’’s Prayer and others. Technology makes it easier for people to research and get answers to their questions about prayer, and encourages us to pray on a regular, daily basis.

Using Technology to Pray for Others

The neat thing about the prayer/technology force is that Jesus tells us in the Bible that if two or more are gathered in His name, he is among us and intercedes on our behalf with God. Technology has made a wonderful way for people to know the needs and requests of others around the world.

The Internet and various software programs based upon prayer have made it possible for Christians to meet together from all over the world and pray for each other on a much grander scale than ever before possible. We can know the needs of our brothers and sisters where we could not possibly know before.

Technology Can Help Veteran Christians

If you are a veteran Christian, then you should know that there is always room for improvement in your prayer life. Are you praying daily, or even multiple times a day? Are you feeling God’’s movement in your life and in the lives of your loved ones? If not, then you have a powerful prayer tool in technology.

There are programs that can teach you where your prayer life is falling short, if you feel unfilled. You can gain information on how to pump up your prayer volume, make your prayers more meaningful, and especially learn how to make sure that your prayers line up with the blessings that God wants to give you. Take advantage of the Internet and software programs that teach specifically about prayer. Make a difference today!

Picking The Best Slide Scanning Service

March 20, 2008

By Phoenix Delray

Simply defined, a digital image is any image taken from a computer, scanner, or digital camera. Digital cameras create these images using a CCD chip, which is composed of many small light sensitive cells arranged to divide the pictures into rows and columns of smaller sub areas, and scanners function almost the same way. Slide scanners contain one row of light sensitive cells, and a motor that moves the row down the slide, creating columns that form the total image grid.

Why Is It Better To Scan Slides As Opposed To Scanning Prints?

Scanning film and film slides, generally speaking, produces higher quality images than simply scanning prints. The main reason for this is because scanning the film or slide is, in a sense, using the original image to make a copy, while an already developed print is more of a second generation copy, which will in turn produce a third generation copy once it is scanned.

Film also contains greater detail and contrast, since most film is capable of at least 3,000 dpi, compared to 300 dpi for color photo paper. A film scanner allows for enough quality image pixels to be scanned, as opposed to a standard type of scanner, and thus can produce more detailed, higher quality images, particularly when it comes to creating larger sized prints.

Scanning Slides
When it comes to your precious memories, it makes sense to trust a professional slide scanning service, but there may be times when you want to scan some of your slides on your own, and if so, here are some tips to help you insure optimal results:

1. Make sure that you own a printer with slide scanning ability, and if not, scanners can be purchased online or through office and electronics store.

2. Make sure that any software that was included with your scanner is installed, and that all of your electronic components have been properly calibrated. Keep in mind that scanning slides manually can take a long time, generally three to four minutes per slide.

3. Create a folder for each set of images that you want to scan. You can create folders based on category, occasion, the name of a person, or any other identifier you choose. Make sure that you have pressed the correct button for either color or black and white images, and be sure that you are scanning the correct side of the slide. This can be confusing, and depending on the slide scanner that you are using, paying attention to the orientation of the slide is one way to help make sure you are scanning correctly.

4. Carefully stack your slides on one side of your scanner, making sure not to stack them too close to the edge of your table or desk. With a flatbed scanner, it is usually possible to load multiple slides at once. With a specially designed film scanner, you will probably have to load and scan each slide one by one.

5. Always crop your photos before scanning, via your scanner preview mode. This is very important, since most people make the mistake of cropping their originals instead.

6. Enable Auto focus mode before scanning.

Keep in mind that slide scanning is an often complicated process and that it may take a few attempts before you are able to achieve optimal results.
