The drummer by definition has to be the most rock and roll member of the band. You have to be a little unhinged to be a drummer. All that time spent banging definitely seems to have an effect. It is remarkable therefore that some of the finest drummers seem to be strangely sensible. Take Phil Collins, Dave Grohl and John Densmore. These guys for some of the most hardcore bands ever to grace the planet (Nirvana and The Doors that is - I”m not sure Genesis could be called hardcore!) yet they have achieved phenomenal individual success despite, by definition, being a screw loose.
John Densmore, the drummer for The Doors, walked out on the band in protest at the self-destructive actions of the other band members. He rejoined the next day. He is one drummer that is particularly bemused by the dumb drummer stereotype. He was an accomplished musician on other instruments such as the piano and briefly the clarinet. He hates people that downplay the credibility of the drums and has stated that “the drum was the first fucking instrument”. His eloquence sums up the disappointment that some drummers feel when their art form is insulted. Densmore really utilised his orchestral experience and incorporated into his drumming style. The distinctive drumming in The End really drew on the differences between fortissimo [very loud] and pianissimo [very soft]. It is the change in volume of the drums made that the song the incredibly powerful piece of music that it is. Is this far more sophisticated than you may ever have thought?
Dave Grohl is another of the Uber drummers that has played with some of the toughest rock bands ever. As the drummer for Nirvana he was no stranger to sex and drugs and rock and roll. His simple, hard-hitting style of drumming was at the core of the bands success and gave their music a spine. The untimely death of Kurt Cobain in 1994 saw the end of Nirvana but Grohl did not stay depressed and moved on to form his own band. He dropped drumming duties opting to form his own band and called it the Foo Fighters. He switched from drums to guitar and vocals and the band went on to receive massive commercial success. In 2002 Grohl joined up with the Queens of the Stoneage to help them record their album, songs for the deaf. He has also performed with Norah Jones, David Bowie and the legendary Tenacious D. There are few drummers that have received such a wide range of success as Dave Grohl. Throughout his career he has proved that he is more than a dumb drummer.
Universally chastised by members of the press and the music industry the following drummer seems to have upset a lot of people in his long successful career. If drumming was judged purely on commercial success he would probably be at the top of the list of best drummers in the world. He has been an actor in films, played drums for some of the most successful bands ever and has written soundtracks for a number of Disney films. Phil Collins is both incredibly talented and extremely business savvy. The range and extent of his success proves that drummers can be intelligent and sensible yet extremely successful. Phil Collins is yet another example that quashes the dumb drummer stereotype.

Ever since the Nintendo Wii video game console was introduced in the global market it has taken the world by storm. In the beginning Microsoft Xbox 360 managed to sell more units than Nintendo Wii in the month of September, Nintendo Wii soon overtook Microsoft to reach the top spot for the number of units sold.
Nintendo overtook Microsoft in October when 519,000 units of the game console were sold while Microsoft managed to sell only 366,000 units.
However in terms of revenue Microsoft has overtaken Nintendo Wii. Microsoft earned $354 million in revenue from sales of its video game console while Nintendo managed to earn $246 million for its Wii model and $116 million for its PS3 model.
The third major competitor Sony has also done exceptionally well for itself as it launched newer models. On the other hand the Nintendo Wii has done exceptionally well as it faces supply problems from different quarters of the world.
Though the company should be proud that demand is more than supply it is trying to close the gap by finding out more ways than one to increase considerable from their current capacity of manufacturing 1.8 million units per month.
The Nintendo Wii is becoming a real competitor to the seventh generation gaming systems like Microsoft’’s Xbox 360 and Sony’’s PlayStation 3. The Nintendo Wii was introduced as the successor of Nintendo GameCube. The game console has some great features which has helped it reach the number one spot.
The console has a wireless controller (which is powerful) as well as Wii remote that can be held in the hand and used as a pointing device. This device can detect acceleration in three dimensions making your gaming experience as realistic as possible. Through the WiiConnect24 you are able to receive updates over the internet when the console is in standby mode.
The Nintendo Wii won a lot of accolades and awards at the E3 press conference in 2006. The console was launched in four key markets by December 2006. And in September 2007 the Financial Times declared the Nintendo Wii as the market leader in its category. Today the monthly sales of the console remain better than all its competitors.
In fact reports show that the console has managed to sell more units in USA than Microsoft and Sony combined in the first half of 2007. Nintendo Wii also leads in Japan where it outsells both the consoles of its competitors at a ratio of 3:1 to 6:1 respectively every week.
Even in Australia the Nintendo Wii replaced Microsoft Xbox 360 from the top slot with record sales. Hence today the console has become the leader in all the markets it has established its presence. In fact reports suggest that Nintendo has warned that units will be in short supply throughout 2007.
Microsoft and Sony have known to suffer losses from selling their consoles and have high hopes that software sales will turn the tide n their favor. However Nintendo claims to have optimized production costs as a result of which it is earning good margin on every console sold to the customer.

Music is enjoyable to almost everyone, so why not bring it in the car? It can definitely make your trip more melodious. So besides the factory car stereo that came with your vehicle, it may be time to upgrade your car stereo system. This can mean new amplifiers, speakers, CD or cassette players, and equalizers. If the power requirement is higher, then you will need batteries, alternators, power cables, and capacitors as well, to power the system adequately. Also, there are many portable devices that can be connected to your car stereo to provide variety of media sources, like MP3, WAV, USB, memory sticks and so on.
Many of these portable devices can playback MP3 file format that has the characteristic of using less space than hard drives and memory sticks. Unfortunately the sound quality of this file format is quite inferior if we compare it with that of CD or WAV files. But this problem could easily be avoided if MP3s were converted at 320 kbps. Then the sound quality would be much improved on your audio deck.
An 8GB memory stick is another kind of popular portable audio device that can be loaded up with MP3s to bring in the car. On one memory stick, you can listen to more than five hundred songs! These can then be plugged into portable MP3 players anywhere.
Many audio devices have a USB port that allows you to connect and/or interact with computer hardware. This means you can bring your laptop or portable PC and play music through the USB port. You can also use this to save music on your hard drive.
Portable audio decks often come equipped with security features to reduce the risk of theft. If you have a CD player and keep your CDs in the car, then your entire CD collection might be stolen. However, if you have a memory stick, then it is small enough that you can simply bring the entire thing with you. Then there is no way for your collection of music to get stolen from the car.
Other types of alarm systems you might consider are shock sensors, ignition kill switches, intrusion sensors, window break sensors, and door entry sensors. You can also install a tracking system hidden in the car so that wherever the car is, police can track its location if it gets stolen.
Other accessories you can add to your car stereo are equalizers, CD changers, mixers, and 3D sound equipment.
Car stereos are designed to fit the car they are installed in. So take special consideration for the type of car you are driving to determine the placement of speakers, amplifiers, etc. The bigger the car, the bigger the speakers. You also need to handle the power requirements or else you will hear distortion from your speakers, the volume will not go very loud, and soon you will end up with a dead car battery and the car will not start. Many times a powerful car stereo requires more than one battery, perhaps 2 or even 3. Since lead acid batteries become damaged with heavy use, car stereos often use deep cycle batteries for improved performace. This also have a faster response time, in addition to lasting longer under heavy usage, than lead acid batteries.

Some people that do their shopping in the United Kingdom live on the outskirts of cities such as London. For the people to go shopping and feel safe they might need to use some communication devices while shopping UK shops. Some people will choose to carry a mobile phone around with them because communicating with people is so much easier with this device.
Other shoppers that go shopping UK might be anywhere else in the world. They will use communication devices to shop with but they will not be very close when they use them. These shoppers could be as far as China or an island in the Caribbean Seas but if they have access to a communication device such as a modem they will be able to shop for hours if they want to. They can also communicate their desires for shipping these items anywhere in the world with this communication device.
Some shoppers can not communicate at all due to some sort of disability they have. They are still able to communicate if they need to and do some shopping UK via a few communication devices. Mute people can still speak their mind about the products they want with the help of text messaging programs that are installed on their cellular telephone. They can go shopping UK with direct internet access that can be obtained in a variety of ways.
There are all sorts of communication devices used while shopping UK retailers that are on the internet framework. Shoppers prefer to access retail sites through their internet connection directly most of all. There are no time limits involved in this method of shopping UK stores or any other place in the world because most internet access providers will allow customers to buy internet access cheaply and base it on a monthly rate that is very affordable.
Some of these shoppers might use their home computers to communicate with a retailer in the UK and the rest of the world. There are many retailers that have created customer service areas that have internet addresses that customers use to make inquiries about the availability of products that they want to buy.
This open forum of communication options works quite well for many while shopping UK stores online, because customers do not have to sit at the computer at home and wait patiently for a customer service representative to send a reply. Those replies might be conveyed through a return email to an internet message sent, or it could be delivered free of charge to the text messaging window on a variety of mobile phones that the customer bought when shopping UK electronics stores.

USB drumkits 3
I don”t think there is a single musician in this world that hasn”t been influenced by another. As an aspiring drummer I want to share the drummers that influence me. These guys represent everything great about rock music. So here are two of my favourite rock drummers
Rick Allen
Rick Allen has to be one of the greatest ever rock icons in the world. He epitomises everything cool about rock and roll. The one armed drummer that defied his disability to be part of one of the biggest rock bands in the UK. He joined def Leppard aged 15 and just after the band got signed he lost his arm in a car accident. True to form it was a horrifically spectacular accident that could only have happened to a rock star. Under the influence Rick Allen attempted a drive by high five and lost control of his corvette and crashed into a nearby field. Doctors re-attached his arm but later had to remove it due to risk of infection.
Fortunately this did not hold him back and indeed the members of the band would often jibe him saying that he was a better drummer after he lost his arm that when he had two. He utilised a semi-electronic drumkit to bang out some of the most distinctive rock tunes. He is a great example of a drummer that made the most of an electronic drumkit throughout his career.
John Bonham
John Bonham is my favourite drummer of all time. He revolutionised rock music with his playing style which was both thunderous and powerful and was intertwined with a finesse that no one else has ever managed to replicate. When Jimmy Page first saw him he was inspired and it ended his search for a new drummer for his new band the New Yardbirds. As you will no doubt know the New Yardbirds renamed and became Led Zeppelin the best rock band of all time.
John Bonham was the force in the band that drove the irrepressible genius of Jimmy page and Robert Plants music to new levels. Every member of the band consistently praises the influence of john on the band and state that Led Zeppelin would not have been half as good without him. There’’s not much better praise than that! Described as the backbone of the band he really came to the fore during their live shows where he was often given the opportunity to improvise and jam on stage. The most infamous of these solos was the ”Moby Dick” drum solo that reached up to half an hour in length.
Trying to imitate John Bonham’’s playing style has frustrated an enormous number of drummers. The incredible sound that he achieved looked effortless when he played but in reality requires an almost god-like level of skill. His early playing style was extremely boisterous but he developed his style in later years and approached the skin bashing with a more delicate wrist. This controlled approach provided an even more powerful and a louder sound with significantly less effort.

When I was growing up the most exciting toys I came across were conkers and marbles. However great these may have been they seem to have been shunted right out of the way with the wealth of gadget toys that are available these days. The range and variety of gadgets on offer is incredible. What’’s even more incredible is the level of sophistication that goes into some of these toys.
The level of technology in some of the toys available on the market is phenomenal. Many of these mainstream toys are cheap enough for everyone to own one and they seem to offer greater levels of technology than that which got man to the moon in 1969. Here are a few of the genius ideas I have come across that in my opinion rival the Apollo 11 for ingenuity.
Flying alarm Clock
The flying alarm clock is an ingenious way of making you leap out of bed. When the alarm sounds the alarm clock rises from the platform upon which it is placed and flies around the room. Complete with a helicopter style rotor blade you have to get up and catch it to switch it off. What a brilliant idea! I could well have done with one of these when I was younger and even now. The most amazing thing is that they only sell for around 20 pounds. What a bargain - perfect for a birthday gift.
USB Rocket launcher
USB technology is very recent. You can now buy a number of items that can be run by sticking them into your USB port. One of the most enjoyable of these gadgets is a USB rocket launcher. Equipped with a number of foam darts that can be shot at office work colleagues it is great fun. The rocket launcher sits on your desk and shoots darts out when instructed to do so by the computer. The best thing about this is that it is possible to hijack someone else’’s. So if your friend is on the same network as you then you can tap in to their system and aim their darts at them - genius! I used to have to make do with paper darts - not anymore.
Electric paper plane launcher
Speaking of paper planes it is now possible to purchase a paper plane launcher. The products makers claim that the machine can launch planes at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. Wow - I think. I have to admit that this one is a bit of a puzzler to me and I have to admit I have not forked out the money to buy one. It sounds like the mother of all paper cut inducing machines. But fun nevertheless. I bet you could really achieve some distance for your plane with one of these. In my day we had to make use of our own throwing skill.
Motorised strap on skates
Yes that’’s right motorised skates do actually exist! You can buy a pair of them, and you”ll definitely want two (unless you only have one leg), for around 100 pounds. There has surely never been a product that is more likely to kill as many people as these will.
Nevertheless it is a great concept - despite being bloody scary. Called the iShoes critics have called them the fastest trip to casualty you will ever make. I for one will definitely be trying these out though. They work with batteries that apparently last for up to 7 miles in one charge. The wheels on these skates are much bigger than those that are fixed to traditional skates. In my day we had to settle for riding around in a shopping trolley with a wonky wheel.

If you are an avid photographer, you may want to turn your hobby into a profession. In this respect one avenue is photography for magazines. For freelancers this is an opportunity that holds great promise. However, you will first have to understand and learn how the trade works.
Firstly, in order to make profit from photography for magazines you should purchase a few well known magazines and study the pictures that it contains. Make an honest appraisal of the work that you have done as compared to the ones that the magazines hold. If you feel that the quality of your photography is at par, you can go ahead with selling your pictures to magazines. On the other hand, if you find that your pictures lack the quality that you see in the magazines, hold them back. Do not waste your own time as well as that of the photo editor by submitting inferior photographs, as it will not take you anywhere. Strive to perfect your skills before you attempt to sell your photography for magazines.
At the same time, you will also need to study the images that sell. Photography for magazines caters to different categories of readers. So, you will need to develop an understanding of the magazine market.
Once you have decided the type of photography for magazines that you have an interest in and will be dealing with, submit related photographs to the photo editor of a magazine. In order to do this you can either write to them or email them apprising them of the job that you have undertaken. Another good idea is to have a website of your own so that you can enable these photo editors to view the pictures taken by you. This will be helpful to them in gaining a better understanding of your talent and work as the website will contain a wide array of pictures taken by you on different themes.
If you happen to send your photographs by post, it is a good idea to send a stamped self-addressed envelop along with it. This will ensure that you get your pictures back and your labour is not lost.
There are laws governing the use of photography for magazines and it would be advisable for you to understand them. If you click a picture, it becomes your sole property. The normal practice is that your photography for magazines will fetch you a price when you sell it and if the image is used again within five months, you have to be paid again.
Now coming to the price offered for photography for magazines. It goes without saying that the cover picture fetches the highest price followed by the middle centre spread. At the same time the price will also depend on the sale of magazines. Those magazines that sell well offer better prices for pictures. You must also remember that you will be paid after the magazine goes into print. Another very important point to keep in mind if you are interested in photography for magazines is that if you sell your picture to one magazine, do not rush along and submit it to another magazine straightaway. If they happen to discover this ploy of yours they may well not consider your pictures in the future.
Keeping these few points in mind will ensure that you make a rewarding full time or part time career out of photography for magazines.

So you are all excited to go and barge to the mall to select and pick your very first digital camera. But before you pull out your cash or present your credit card to the eagerly awaiting cashier, here are a few tips that may help you make an informed choice in purchasing the “it” device that would take a snapshot of all your happy and memorable family and personal moments with a click and a snap here and there.
When going shopping, whether it may be for a digital camera or something else entirely, one should always have a set budget in mind. This is essentially an important consideration to make, lest you would want to spend on more than what you can afford and this is especially true with digital cameras as some have such prices that can cost you an arm and a foot if you are not careful.
The world-wide-web may be a great help for you in planning your digital camera purchase. There are a lot of companies who are offering digital cameras online so take advantage and do your financial research. This is also a good way for you not only to compare prices with but you also get to compare features of different digital cameras available in the market as well.
High-end digital cameras with greater zoom capabilities, more megapixels and other extra features can be very expensive, so if you are just starting off and is a newbie with the digital snapshot world then the best advice for you is to get a simpler, compact digital camera with the basic features. There are a number of great compact digital cameras out there and you might be delighted to find one that not only has features that will satisfy your photographic needs but also one that fits your budget as well.
And when looking for savings on your digital camera purchase, be wary of those package deal offerings. Most of these deals include accessories and other stuff that you really do not need but end up paying for. It would be best to look into each item, each item’’s individual cost and whether or not you really need that bonus camera bag. Some manufacturers or vendors may use these packages to sell off substandard items that oftentimes mislead buyers into thinking they get the better end of the deal.
Aside from looking into those digital camera features like zoom, megapixels and image quality, you may want to check on the media type and battery type of your digital camera too. There are varied types of media cards available for digital cameras and they are all not that cheap. So if you are thinking of upgrading your digital camera in the future, it is best to choose one that has a flexible media card that can accommodate upgrades. It would be a waste to find your old media card obsolete and out of sync from the digital world. Second is to look at your digital camera’’s battery type. Always look into durable rechargeable batteries that can last you a long time.

At this time and age, we see a lot of individuals lugging their laptops around, may it be for business or for personal use. And although laptops seem common nowadays, it does not mean that they come cheap. Purchasing a laptop is still considered to be a big investment and is not something that should be rushed into.
You simply cannot just go to the computer shop, choose one that has a color that fits to your liking and say “charge.” There are a number of factors that you have to consider so that you can be sure that your purchased laptop gives you your money’’s worth. If you are not careful you could be spending too much for something does not give off enough value. Clever minds or even common sense would tell you that before you splurge that cash, take into account what you are buying. If your excuse is that you do not have enough knowledge about laptops then fret no further. Here are a few helpful tips that should guide you in your electronic notebook shopping spree!
First is to figure out the purpose for which you will be using the laptop and the frequency of use. When you are going to be using your laptop on a regular basis, then it is important that you should buy one that provides you with the outmost ease and comfort in usage. Basic ergonomics would tell you that the laptop violates the rule which states that the keyboard and the screen should be separated to prevent trouble and pain in the wrist and the neck area. However, there are laptops which offer an interface which lessen the risks of carpal tunnel syndrome and neck pains. Go for comfort other than the color and the design when choosing. Thus, it is better to use a separate mouse than to depend on the tracking knob or pointer that is provided for in most laptops as a substitute for a mouse. This way you have more room and space to move your hands when typing or clicking on objects on the screen.
The ability to connect with other devices through your laptop is another thing to look into when buying a new laptop. Connectivity is an issue because connection upgrades for a laptop is not an easy feat because laptops are made with a basic design as compared with desktops. The thing to check for is the availability of wireless networking capabilities. A USB port is an important feature. Find a laptop that has more than one port so that you would not have to struggle and switch from your digital camera to your mp3 player to your external hard drive with just one.
Another thing that is not easily upgradeable is the processor. You do not want to have bought a new laptop and learn a couple of weeks or months after that your unit is already obsolete. Look for high performance graphic solutions processors that work just as well as their desktop counterparts.

Being able to look up mobile telephone numbers using a reverse cell phone directory is one of the most amazing accomplishments in online search system that is able to facilitate thousands of searches in a day at the click of the mouse.
A reverse cell phone directory is a database of sources, it contains both public and private phone numbers with owner related information and above all, these databases can be accessed by you at any point in time and from anywhere. You can download as well as view record reports within a few minutes. You will be able to access reports with ease and they will get displayed on your PC screen in no time so that you can enjoy mobile phone data lookups.
Most people search for a reverse number directory service if they are in any of the following situations:
* Repeated calls from private or unlisted numbers
* Blank calls made to the phone of your spouse but neither of you can recognize the numbers
* Call from strange numbers at strange hours: getting a call past midnight
* If your partner is cheating on you
* If your children are being harassed by an unknown entity
There are a lot of people who love to make prank calls. For the receiver this can be a mentally taxing situation and most people feel harassed when such a call comes. You can report the number with the law authorities but you can also do better than that. You can use a directory service to find out who the caller really is. You can find out vital information regarding the caller like the name, email address, street address, zip code and even their neighbours information etc.
The good thing is that the person you are searching for will never know that you have got his/her name and address. This is probably one of the reasons that make using a reverse cell phone directory an effective way of tracing the caller.
A reverse cell phone directory will help you to reach to the bottom of the things by providing you with personal caller information. All you need to do is find out a reliable directory service and take their membership. Most free services are not efficient or effective enough. You might have to pay for the service but the fee is minimal for the kind of information you will get access to.
